66180: Robecq - Minsterworth

online resource
posted on 2024-04-18, 18:15 authored by First World War Poetry Digital Archive Project Team

Typescript prepared by Marion Scott. Numerous versions of the poem exists, also under the title 'Ypres - Minsterworth'. This draft shows an alteration to line 19. 'Minsterworth' is where the poet F.W. Harvey, a friend of Gurney's, lived. The poem is dedicated to Harvey, who was reported missing in August 1916 but was later known to have been taken prisoner. The poem was included in 'War's Embers' (1919).
