Manuscript in pen in Ivor Gurney's hand. On a loose-leaf page found in a black hard-cover exercise book inscribed 'I.B. Gurney / 1 Westfield Terrace / Longford / Gloucester'. Written on the reverse of the page showing 'Going Out At Dawn'. The poem exists in numerous drafts. The version shown here was included in P.J. Kavanagh's 'Ivor Gurney: Collected Poems' (2004). Another poem with the same title, found in the green manuscript notebook 64.3, begins 'France has victory...'.
