Manuscript in pen in Ivor Gurney's hand. Another version of the poem was published in Leonard Clark's edition of Ivor Gurney's poems of 1973. That version was also published in 'The London Mercury' in 1924. Found in a green hard-covered manuscript exercise book, marked 'The Note Book / (between music makings) / of Ivor Gurney / 1921-1922 / 'corrected Feb 1925' / 'Ivor Gurney''.
