Drawing in pencil by David Jones inscribed '(periscope) / early in 1916 / place uncertain'. Initialled DJ. A soldier kneels on the fire-step of the trench to use the periscope, a spade and a rum jug are on the floor of the trench. Another soldier stands nearby wearing a helmet.
