online resource

Envelope. Two postmarks: Passed Field Censor and Field Post Office dated '21 FE 17'.
Discusses the gift of a torch; a German barrage; pay; poor roads.
Discusses Hun (German) prisoners; turbaned Indian soldiers; obtaining helmets ('for the men') and a jack-knife for himself; discomfort while British guns fire.
Discusses military matters and his living conditions which are paramount over family salutations. Promises to look for an Album of the town - probably Arras.
