61140: Medals of John Barnard

online resource

Medals from the First World War of John Barnard, which according to his son "he never wore!" He apparently did not believe in all that. However, no matter where he was he would stand at attention in silence at 11am on the 11th November each year, even if he was working out in the fields. He would also stop (even if driving) for a funeral cortege to pass.

Part of a collection relating to Lance Corporal John Barnard (52258 Worcestershire regiment), market gardener of Badsey near Evesham; and his son Mike's drawings and newspaper articles relating to the First World War.
