My grandfather John Eadie was lost on 2nd April 1916 when his minesweeper HMS Commandant struck a mine at Lowestoft.
The letter he sent to my mother was probably written the Christmas before he died. He refers to Zeppelins and he died the day they attacked Leith.
He was a Leith man who married a Newhaven woman and lived in Newhaven at the time he died. The Family wrote letters to say they were OK, but he had died the same day.
