online resource
posted on 2024-02-18, 21:44 authored by Great War Archive Project Team

A shell case that has been shaped into a jug and decorated with (among other things) a picture of a soldier holding a gun, and underneath the handle, the inscription "Windy corner. Steel helmets to be worn". The artwork depicts "Soldiers risking life and limb to visit Mlle Armentiers, for pleasures of the flesh". Part of a collection relating to Mr Greenwood Kitching of the Bradford Pals.
