A Simple Prayer Book for Soldiers, issued by H.M. Stationery Office by arrangement with the Catholic Truth Society. Inscribed inside the front cover "This prayer book was used by Thomas Mahoney, 1914-1916", and "died in France 1916 of wounds received". Mahoney served as a private with the 1/5th Battalion of the Border Regiment. He was killed on 7th November 1916 in the Somme region, and was buried in the Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension. Part of a collection relating to Thomas Mahoney and Archibold George Fielder, deposited by Mahoney's great-grandson.
