Letter from Sergeant Ralph William Readhead to his wife, written while he was in hospital recovering from a bullet wound to the arm. The letter is accompanied by a handwritten transcript, and a label saying that Readhead was 'injured on the Somme' (although the battle usually known by that name did not occur until the following year), and Readhead's membership card for The Northumberland Fusiliers' South African Volunteers' Association. Part of a collection relating to Ralph William Readhead of the 4th East Yorks.
