The men rode donkeys. J C Morten found they made an amusing picture with their legs almost touching the ground.


Editor's Comment:
Pte. 2393 John Clarke Morten, 1/7th Bn. Manchester Regiment, was commissioned Second Lieutenant and later attached to the Royal Air Force.
