60819: Tin in Sapper E. Grantham's Haversack which deflected a bullet

Sapper E Grantham was awarded a Bravery Certificate (submitted separately) after this event when a Corporal was wounded but this and a tea tin (submitted separately) saved him by deflecting a bullet. A letter (also submitted separately) described the event. He and another soldier got the Corporal back safely.

Sapper 146217 Ernest Grantham, 156th Field Company, Royal Engineers. The 156th Field Coy. were attached to the 16th (Irish) Division. Sapper E Grantham was awarded a Bravery Certificate (submitted separately) after this event when a Corporal was wounded but this and a tea tin (submitted separately) saved him by deflecting a bullet. A letter (also submitted separately) described the event. He and another soldier got the Corporal back safely.
