60803: Photographs, Memorial Scroll, and Medal Card of Willie Gaunt
In memory of William Gaunt born in Barrow Lancashire in 1885 and died in France on 28 April 1917 aged 32. He left a widow, Emma (nee Cooper) and 3 children (names unknown). He was my Grandmother's brother.
On the bottom left hand side of the group photo, we found when we enlarged the photo for restoration that Willie has etched EMMA in the sand. See the tiny piece of mud on the tip of his stick!!! Included is an enlargement of the inscription. We wonder if she ever knew as it is invisible to the eye on the original photo.
