<p dir="ltr">Field Service Postcard sent by Charles W. Carr after being seriously wounded - shot in the legs by machine gun bullets - during the the attack of the 2/5th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment on Pond Farm during the battle of Paschendale. His family actually believed he was missing, and presumed he was killed.</p> <p>The postcard was postmarked 24 Aug 1917, and a note on the card shows it was received 27 Aug at 6.15pm.</p> <p>Part of large collection of photos and memoribilia relating to Serjeant 3091 (later 240965) Charles Woodward Carr, 2/5th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment - kept by Mrs Gill Porter and Mr Tony Carr of their father.</p>
