60779: Photographs of Charles W. Carr and his sisters
Corporal Charles W. Carr is photographed with his sister Edith. Edith died of consumption in 1916. Charles' son Tony Carr recalls that Charles got some leave without expecting it, and "went by train home to his family in Llandrindod Wells arriving very early in the morning on the mil train - too early to wake the family. So he sat with the signalman (a friend of the family) in the signalbox at Llandrindod Station. During the conversation the signalman unfortunately had to break the news to Charles that his sister had died that week!"
