60758: Letters from three Goodchild brothers to their mother in Suffolk
In total about 300 letters from enlistment to death (December 1915) or the end of active service (July 1916, two surviving brothers). Transcript of letters sent by Pte. 15103 Arthur Goodchild, 9th Bn. Suffolk Regt (date of birth 25 November 1896) to his mother from September 1914 (enlisted) to July 1916 (discharged?).
Transcript of letters sent by Pte. 15176 Edmund Leonard (Ned) Goodchild, "C" Coy. 9th Bn. Suffolk Regt (date of birth 8th September 1893) to his mother from September 1914 (enlisted) to December 1915. Pte. Edmund Goodchild was killed in action 19th December 1915, and is buried in White House Cemetery, St. Jean-Les-Ypres.
Transcript of letters sent by Pte. 12279 George Goodchild, Suffolk Regt (date of birth 25 March 1895) to his mother from August 1914 (enlisted) to July 1916 (transferred to home duty?). Pte. Goodchild was wounded near Loos in November 1915, and was hospitalized in England until February 1916. He later joined the Royal Scots (service no. 52998).
