Charles W. Carr is standing third from left on back row. The same photo is in the official book of the history of the regiment 'The story of the 2/5th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment 1914-1918' edited by A.F. Barnes, MC, Gloucester, The Crypt House Press, Ltd, 1930. In that book RSM WW Spragg and RQMS ARN Joseland are identified seated in the centre. Notes on back of the postcard indicate the photo may have been taken in Ireland - not the location given in the history book.
Part of large collection of photos and memoribilia relating to Serjeant 3091 (later 240965) Charles Woodward Carr, 2/5th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment - kept by Mrs Gill Porter and Mr Tony Carr of their father.
