In addition to long and detailed entries by Sapper Davidson, the diary contains entries in 3 other hands giving French names and addresses. Also scanned were drawings, a letter in French and German currency which were tucked into the pages.

Sapper 64771 Alexander Davidson, 'A.L.' Cable Section, Royal Engineers, attached 17th Corps. Sapper Davidson later transferred to the Royal Air Force (service no. 134934).
