60705: Letter from Jack Morten

online resource
posted on 2024-02-23, 23:00 authored by Great War Archive Project Team

Letter sent from my father-in-law to his parents. There are nearly 200 letters from the war which were published in 1993 under the title "I remain Your son, Jack". I own the copyright. This is the most graphic of the letters. The latter part of the transcription is a letter about the same incident to Jack's sister, Pat.

Editor's Comment:
Pte. 2393 John Clarke Morten, 1/7th Bn. Manchester Regiment, was commissioned Second Lieutenant and later attached to the Royal Air Force.
