Out of action after accident on camel called 'Old Sambo' June 1917. also believed to have suffered Malaria, declared unfit for active service.

He stayed in Egypot for the duration of the war carrying out admin duties on a prisioner of war camp Ras-el-Tin at Alexandria . The camp changed its name to The Aliens internment camp on March 16th 1917.
