59 squadron, Coastal Command, sinking of Uboat 844 on 16 October 1943

My father, Rod Pike, was the navigator of Liberator TR-S of 59 Squadron, piloted by P/O Thomas, escorting Convoy ON206.

They attacked two U Boats with depth charges and machine gun fire resulting in the sinking of U844. The aircraft was hot by ack ack fire and one engine was u/s. This is recorded in his logbook [image attached] where he has noted later that the details are in the book "Autumn of the U Boats". Also attached is a photo of the crew and a copy of a local news cutting.
