An account by W J Cranston of a cavalry action in France in August 1914 (from the Royal Scots Greys' Association Report, 1947).


Editor's Comment:
Second Lieutenant (acting Lieutenant Colonel) William James Cranston DSO, Royal Scots Fusiliers and Staff, served additionally in the North Staffordshire Regiment and commanded the 13th Bn. King's Liverpool Regiment and 3rd Bn. Machine Gun Corps.
