58714: Letter giving account of the death of Pte David Murie

This letter, and a transcription of the letter, informs his mother of the death of Pte David Murie and provides an eye-witness account. He died in the first tank battle at Cambrai.


Editor's Comment:
Letter from the Enquiry Department for Wounded and Missing, British Red Cross and Order of St. John. Pte. 200257 David Murie, 'B' Bn. Tank Corps, was killed 23rd November 1917 and is commemorated on the Cambrai memorial. He originally served in the Royal Field Artillery (service no. 1093).
