Photograph of Zeebrugge harbour defences partially destroyed by British submarines.

Editor's Comment:
Photograph of the damage inflicted by HMS C3, commanded by Lt. R. D. Sandford, who lost his life and won the Victoria Cross in the action. Part of the diversionary attack on the Mole mounted during the Zeebrugge Raid, an amphibious assault on the port of Zeebrugge (Belgian coast). The action was intended to stop German submarines using the port as a base.
