A letter written to be read to Gordon on his sixth birthday (23 July 1917) Albert died of wounds in France on 10th April 1918. Gordon kept this all his life, and I found it after he died in 1987.

Editor's Comment:
His name is erroneously spelt 'Bromwick' on his medal card, held by the National Archives.

Private 356170 Albert J. Bromwich, 2nd Battalion Highland Light Infantry, died of wounds 10th April 1918. The son of Oliver and Sarah Bromwich, of Two Mile Hill, Kingswood, Bristol, and husband of Beatrice Bromwich, of 533, Bath Rd., Brislington, Bristol, he is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery.
