58643: 1914-15 Star of Chief Stoker Joseph E. Russell

This is the 1914-15 Star awarded to Royal Navy Stoke Petty Officer Joseph E. Russell. He enlisted in the Royal Navy in November 1901 at the age of 18. From July 31, 1914 until January 10, 1917 he served aboard the HMS Foyle. After a month ashore serving at the Royal Navy Barracks HMS Pembroke II at Chatham, he was next assigned to the HMS Acheron for the duration of hostilities. He was pensioned out to the Royal Fleet Reserve as a Chief Stoker in November 1923.
