58638: 82nd Squadron Christmas Card 1917

online resource
posted on 2024-02-23, 23:00 authored by Great War Archive Project Team

The card was designed by my great-grandfather WG Dundas as the Christmas 'postcard' for the Royal Flying Corps, 82nd Squadron, in 1917. The design is taken from a photograph he took of another plane during a reconnaissance mission. The reverse reads: "Dear Mother, Wishing you and Father and all the family the best wishes for Xmas and New Year. I designed the card. Best of love, yours affectionately, Bill."

Editor's Comment:
Lt William George Dundas, No. 82 Squadron, Royal Air Force. The Squadron was formed at Doncaster, 7th January 1917, and served from November 1917 as an army co-operation unit, flying the Armstrong Whitworth FK8.
