In this letter, Reggie tells Len of his happiness at having been treated so kindly by his (Len's) family. He talks of his hopes for victory, and says he is looking forward to his leave 'like a little boy looks forward to Xmas'. The letter ends 'you have made one life happy'. Reggie was killed in action two days later (5 October 1918).
