Sarah (the daughter) was married in 1914. By now her husband was away. She wrote about missing him. Here she wrote
"Dear Mother Thanks very much for the kind letter very sorry you cannot get this week but of course I thought the snow would stop you, has(sic)it was 8 inches deep on the level & 18 inches where it had drifted, it has never been so deep for about 11 years.
Ted was quite well up to last Thur. Well Mother I wish you many many happy returns of the day & I hope the Boys will soon be home. With fondest Love your ever affect daughtter Sarah xxxxxx
