Robert was Sarah's oldest son, born in 1889. Robert did not become a soldier - I don't know if he was unfit, or whether it was because he was now the head of the household (his father died in 1915), or because he was a farmer. He went to Lincoln, presumably with his brothers. He wrote "Dear Mother arrived to Lincoln at Hafpast one and are getting on alright hoping you are the same with Love from Robert.

Robert survived the war, and died in 1954. He was my Grandfather.
