This is a photograph taken from some high ground above Mametz Wood showing the location of Bottom Wood (left) and Quadrangle Wood (the small gathering of tress to the right)"
The attack by the 1st Royal Welch Fusiliers on the 4th July 1916 started at Bottom Wood and ended in the capture of Quadrangle Trench which ran from left to right in the photograph just behind Quadrangle Wood.
