My father was a private in the 25th Field Ambulance Division, Wessex Division (no. 487496). He was taken as a Prisoner of War by the Germans whilst manning a medical post on the 27th May 1918: "We had two or three patients there which we couldn't send anywhere, stretcher cases, and we were not going to desert them. So we stuck to our guns until Jerry arrived at our doorway: that was that" (quote taken from an audio interview with Jack which has been submitted separately to the archive)/
