<p dir="ltr">Explains gap in correspondence / describes receiving many letters wishing him a quick recovery from wounds received in France / letter from Siegfried Sassoon / inquiry about Sassoon's health / plans to bring him to Harlech / describes injuries and lack of pain / the journey in the ambulance from Rouen / fictional account of his death in terms of Greek mythology, crossing the River Styx, etc. and quotes Charles Sorley's poem 'When I See Millions of the Mouthless Dead' / his actual experience of being wounded and presumed dying / a letter from his headmaster at Charterhouse regarding his attitude towards being wounded / anticipation of a visit from Edward Marsh and a request for him to bring along Ivor Novello / thanks Marsh for having sent a volume of Jane Austen but continues to prefer Charles Sorley / reading of the death of a German cousin in the Daily Mail and memories of him as a child / concerns over George Mallory / looking forward to Marsh's visit.</p>
