Transcribed letter from Father A. B. Purdie to Mrs. Leighton describing the circumstances of her son Roland Leighton's death in France. The letter was received on 2 January 1916, and Vera Brittain has copied it into her diary, along with a series of poems and extracted verses on death and remembrance.
