<p dir="ltr">My dear Mother and Father I have just a few minutes to spare and have only just been told that a mail is leaving for England tomorrow a.m., first thing. So if this is written in a hurry don't be disappointed as I have already sent some letters off from</p> <p>Although the letter was sent 24th February 1917, it didn't arrive at its destination until 2 months later, 18th April,1917.</p> <p>My grandfather, Gordon was officially known as:</p> <p>Petty Officer Gordon M Grandage 9730<br> HM Armoured Cars RNAS<br> No 1 Squadron, C Section</p> <p>His squadron returned home on or around July 1917 after the Russian retreat from Galicia.</p>
