55009: Letter home to Bradford from Russia 1917

My dear Mother and Father I have just a few minutes to spare and have only just been told that a mail is leaving for England tomorrow a.m., first thing. So if this is written in a hurry don't be disappointed as I have already sent some letters off from

Although the letter was sent 24th February 1917, it didn't arrive at its destination until 2 months later, 18th April,1917.

My grandfather, Gordon was officially known as:

Petty Officer Gordon M Grandage 9730
HM Armoured Cars RNAS
No 1 Squadron, C Section

His squadron returned home on or around July 1917 after the Russian retreat from Galicia.
