Unknown Australian solders in the trenches at Gallipoli, probably members or stretcher bearers of the 9th Battalion 1st AIF, late 1915. This photograph was most probably taken, or perhaps collected, by 494 Sergeant Joseph Cecil Thompson of the 9th Battalion 1st AIF during his service at Galliopli, where he was a stretcher bearer, and in Egypt.

Editor's Comment:
The 9th Bn., as part of 3rd Brg. Australian Imperial Force, were the first to land at the ANZAC beachead on Gallipoli, 25th April 1915.
