<p dir="ltr">Corporal Charles W. Carr is seated second row from front, third from right. The photo is from a newspaper article is entitled "The 2/5th Gloucesters on Final Furlough: A party of the 2/5th Gloucesters on their last leave from the Plain before proceeding to the front had their photos taken with Col. J.C. Griffith this week". </p>
<p>All men are named below the photo. Charles Carr has marked a pencil cross next to many names, including his own.</p>
<p>Part of large collection of photos and memoribilia relating to Serjeant 3091 (later 240965) Charles Woodward Carr, 2/5th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment - kept by Mrs Gill Porter and Mr Tony Carr of their father.</p>

The 2/5th Bn. Gloucestershire Regiment landed in France on the 23rd May 1916.</p>
