The photo has been noted "Ciss" and "Charlie". Charles appears to be wearing Sergeant's stripes. The note on the back records the date as 4 January 1917.

Part of large collection of photos and memoribilia relating to Serjeant 3091 (later 240965) Charles Woodward Carr, 2/5th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment - kept by Mrs Gill Porter and Mr Tony Carr of their father.

Editor's Comment:
Note the cloth unit patches on Sjt. Carr's sleeve.
