It is amazing what was cooked with simple apparatus like this. A seven-course dinner was made on one occasion to celebrate the captain's birthday.Editor's Comment: Pte. 2393 John Clarke Morten, 1/7th Bn. Manchester Regiment, was commissioned Second Lieutenant and later attached to the Royal Air Force.
