William Hourston came from Beaquoy in Orkney.
Editor's Comment: Photograph of Willaim Hourston in uniform of a corporal. Note the two Overseas Service Chevrons on lower right sleeve, indicating two years spent abroad. The 'L' in wreath siginifies a 'Layers' appointment - someone qualified in laying a gun for line and elevation.
