Editor's Comment: Three NCOs of the Royal Artillery. The 'L' in wreath worn by two signifies the appointment of 'Layer' - a man who could 'lay' a gun for line and elevation.

Corporal (later sergeant) 368247 Charles Hourston, Royal Garrison Artillery.
