53911: The King's message of sympathy, sent to Leonard Green's parents

This was the official message of sympathy received by all bereaved families. Despite earlier hopeful signs that their son was alive, it must have come as a devastating blow since if the King thinks you're dead it's likely to be true since, among others, it's him you're fighting for!

Editor's Comment:
Pte. 316448 Leonard E. Green, 1/5th Bn. Northumberland Fusiliers, was reported Missing in Action on 23rd March 1918 and officially declared dead, twice, before his status as a Prisoner of War was confirmed.
