This letter was received by the soldier's parents on 30th April 1918. Private Green, born 1899, had enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers in January 1918 and been sent to France almost immediately. This report,"MIA", relates to the time of German's spring offensive, the last "Big Push", and apparently relates to action near Peronne on the Somme front. (Since I was not born until 1935 the report was incorrect as subsequent attachments will disclose).

Editor's Comment:
Pte. 316448 Leonard E. Green, 1/5th Bn. Northumberland Fusiliers, was reported Missing in Action on 23rd March 1918 and officially declared dead, twice, before his status as a Prisoner of War was confirmed.
