This is a copy of a postcard my Grandfather, Arthur Edward Godfrey, Private, 235069, serving with the Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, gave to my mother.
Editors Comment: Photograph of a QF 4.7" gun: originally a naval weapon, it is here mounted on a Mk I 'Woolwich' carriage for land service, a stop-gap measure before the widespread availability of purpose built heavy artillery. Caption reads: 'Australian Heavy Gun at Work', '"Daily Mail" | Official Photograph | Crown Copyright Reserved'.
Pte. 235069 Arthur Edward Godfrey, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, later served in the Royal Berkshire Regiment (Service No. 39518).
