My Grandfather Arthur Edward Godfrey - Private 235069 in the Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry - fought and survived the war. This is one of numerous postcards and other items he gave to his daughter - my mother.
Editor's Comment: 'The Black Watch Returning to Camp', 'Daily Mail | Official Photograph'. Pipe band of the Black Watch leading a column of infantry. Note the mounted officers.
Pte. 235069 Arthur Edward Godfrey, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, later served in the Royal Berkshire Regiment (Reg. no. 39518).
