Trench art ashtray made from metal of the Zeppelin crash at Theberton, Suffolk, 17th June 1917, by George Chard, an apprentice at Garretts of Leiston, Suffolk (a Steam Tractor manufacturers). Leiston adjoins theberton, the metal was probably stolen from the crash site.

Editor's Comment:
Zeppelin L 48 (production no. LZ95) became lost in an attempted attack on London (including three other airships). Intercepted by the Royal Flying Corps over sea near Great Yarmouth, it crashed at Theberton, Suffolk, leaving only two survivors.
