Left to Right: Tank Corps capbadge; Machine Gun Corps capbadge (the first Tank units were designated 'Heavy Section, Machine Gun Corps', and wore the capbadge of this Corps before the foundation of the Tank Corps in July 1917); 'TANKS' brass shoulder title.

Pte. 200816 William Ernest Foster, D Coy. Heavy Section, Machine Gun Corps (later D Bn. Heavy Branch, Machine Gun Corps and 4th Bn. Tank Corps), served originally in the Machine Gun Corps (Motors).
