4615: Pte Frederick Charles Tate

<p dir="ltr">Frederick Tate was born at Upton Park, Essex on 30th March 1896, the son of Richard Frederick and Katherine Sarah Tate. He was known as Charlie to family and friends. He did well at school and matriculated. He also participated in activities at his local church, St Michael's, in Wood Green, London including participating in Gilbert and Sullivan operas. </p> <p>Frederick enlisted in the army at the same time as his younger brother Reginald and was posted as a Private in the 12th Territorial Battalion London Regiment. He went to France on 9th March 1915. Frederick was killed in action aged 19 on 29th April 1915. Frederick Tate is buried in Railway Dugouts Burial Ground (Transport Farm), Belgium. He is also commemorated on Wood Green Memorial, London.</p>
