George William Mann was Bruce Barnes' Grandfather. George was an electrician who worked on the Sandringham Royal Estate. He enlisted with the Norfolk regiment but was discharged in December 1915. He then worked at Harland & Wolff in Belfast before re-enlisting with The Royal Engineers.
