William Kellett (b. 1896 and known as Willie) was born in Batley and served in the 1st / 4th KOYLI. He died on the Somme on 7/7/1916 and is commemorated on CWGC's Thiepval Memorial. The contributor heard about William from his great aunt although he wasn't spoken about much. After the death of the great aunt, the items relating to William were found. One photo shows Roll of Honour from a Chapel in Batley and names William. Clement Pogson who is also listed on the memorial served with William. He died on 8/7/1916 and is also commemorated at Thiepval. The New Testament contains a message from Rev Gregg. The message in the back is from William's sister.
